Hiking & Waterfalls
Spend time wandering through God's creation on our beautiful wooded trails, a total of about 10 miles if you'd walk all of them.. Pass though rhododendron thickets, a lush, dark section of evergreens and scenic meadow. We have 7 marked trails that range from easy to difficult with distances of ½ mile to approximately 2 miles. A Nature Trail Guide is available at the front desk for our nature trail near the lower waterfalls. You'll see the upper waterfalls and a vast scenic overlook along the Spruce Mountain trail. |
Basketball, Volleyball, & Tennis Courts
We encourage you to get outdoors for playing your favorite high-energy game! Spruce Lake has outdoor volleyball and basketball courts. In Lakeview Program Center, we also have an indoor basketball court and two indoor volleyball courts. Tennis skills can be practiced by young and old alike on our two outdoor courts. Bring your own equipment or borrow ours, free of charge.
Shuffleboard, Horseshoes, & Quoits
Whether a novice or a 'pro', you are guaranteed a fun time when friends and family gather to play a game of shuffleboard. We have four outdoor courts and one indoor court in the game room of Spruce Lodge. We also have a horseshoes and quoits course on the lawn next to the outdoor pool. Please feel free to borrow our equipment at no cost.
Soccer, Baseball, & Game Fields
Gather a group of friends and head for the ball field at the Wilderness Camp area. Play a game of baseball on our diamond, kick a soccer ball around on our field, or toss a Frisbee in an exciting game of Ultimate Frisbee. There is a smaller, yet good-sized lawn at the Retreat Center for running games, as well. Feel free to use our equipment or bring your own.
Lakeview Program Center
This spacious all-purpose gymnasium can be converted to two volleyball courts or a basketball court and volleyball court. It also serves as our largest meeting room, accommodating up to 500 people and including a large stage. This building's special feature are the large doors which can be opened in warmer weather for breezes and views of the surrounding woods. This building may be reserved in advance for special events or group activities.
Lakeview Nature Center
We invite you to visit our educational Nature Center, built almost entirely by volunteers. Our staff naturalists have created a special place where children, teens and adults can get 'up close and personal' with our various live animals, large mounted mammals, plus a variety of skulls, bones, skins, snakes, frogs, feathers much more! Lakeview Nature Center is open for guests most Saturdays throughout the year, and more frequently during the spring and summer months.
