As a camping ministry, we invite accountability and seek to learn and grow through affiliation with larger camping organizations such as those listed below. 

The most involved affiliation we maintain is with ACA (American Camp Association).  ACA is the national accrediting body for camps across the United States.  Several hundred standards apply to a resident camping program like ours, and Spruce Lake Wilderness Camp maintains annual compliance with the ACA standards.  The accreditation process has been extremely educational for us and has brought us in line with nationally recognized best practices for camping.

Our affiliation with CCCA (Christian Camp & Conference Association) has been one of our most enriching memberships.  Regional and national conferences have helped us grow as an organization and have provided enrichment and nurture for staff. CCCA has done much to unify and network Christian camps all over the nation. Their professional-level conferences have offered us tremendous insights and input into what we do on a regular basis.

Our affiliation with MCA (Mennonite Camping Association) has been an affiliation of "kindred spirits."  MCA camps share a common heritage and connection with the larger Mennonite Church.  We have found many supportive relationships within this membership.

Christian Camp and Conference Association (CCCA) - Spruce Lake Retreat is a member of CCCA which exists to proclaim the power and benefits of the Christian camp and conference experience, and to provide leaders at member organizations with ongoing encouragement, professional training, and timely resources.  CCCA has over 1,000 camps and organizations as members and can be found at www.ccca.org.

Mennonite Camping Association (MCA) - Spruce Lake Retreat is a member of MCA which serves as a clearinghouse for directing and promoting Christian camping among Anabaptist/Mennonite conferences and congregations throughout Canada and the United States.  See www.mennonitecamping.org for details.
