Wilderness Camp's Staff In Training Program
Apply Online   Print Application
Our Staff in Training program offers senior-highers the opportunity to develop and test the skills required to serve in a Christian camp setting.  Combine fun with some hard work as mature, college-age leaders oversee your activities and provide spiritual mentorship. You can look forward to interaction with campers and staff, work experience, leadership development, and personal spiritual growth.
All SIT sessions begin at 1:15 p.m. Sunday and end with the 6:30 p.m. dismissal the following Friday.  The fee for all sessions is $160, which covers the cost of the weekend outing and all meals, and so meeting the criteria for a volunteer position.

SIT session 1: July 1-13
SIT session 2: July 15-27
SIT session 3: July 29-August 10

How to apply
Most of our SIT hires happen between the months of March and May.  The earlier you apply the more positions we will have opened to you.
  • Complete the SIT application either online or on paper. We will begin processing summer SIT applications in February of 2012, but you are welcome to submit one prior.
  • For online applications, make sure to select the submit button, making sure that the application is complete.
  • For printable pdf applications, fill them out and mail to: Eric Kauffman, Director, Spruce Lake Wilderness Camp, 5389 Rt. 447, Canadensis PA 18325.
  • Contact those whom you would like to be your references (see criteria on the application), and ask their permission to use them as references.  Send this form to four different references.
  • For online references, you may use the Reference Sender Feature, making sure all email addresses are correct.  Because of spam, we recommend that you follow up with each reference to make sure the reference link was received.
  • For printable pdf references, you may print the reference form and provide it to your references along with an envelope addressed to Spruce Lake Wilderness Camp, and a first class postage stamp.
  • Then wait.  It can take 2-4 weeks for references to be returned and all the materials to be reviewed.
  • Within 3-4 weeks we will contact you to either set up a phone interview or to decline the application.  If you do not hear from us within 3-4 weeks, please contact us again to see where the process is.  That’s it; we can’t wait to hear form you!
