Spruce Lake participates in outreach
Do you know that Spruce Lake participates in the local “Ecumenical Community Meal Ministry” in nearby Mountainhome? In this ministry, sponsored by Most Holy Trinity Catholic parish, a free meal is served every Wednesday for area residents, and for some, this is the special outing of their week. Spruce Lake contributes a meal on a regular basis. All the meals are served at the Mountainhome United Methodist Church.
Spruce Lake’s most recent meal was served October 26, 2016, and consisted of a lovely salad, roasted chicken, rice and mixed veggies, with pumpkin bars and brownies. That day, 68 guests enjoyed this delicious meal!
Teams of volunteers serve in a weekly rotation, helping to bring nourishment and social interaction to all who come. Meals are provided by area restaurants, pizzerias or co-ministries such as Spruce Lake. For more than five years, these faithful volunteers have provided over 200 meals for anyone who came.
The Ecumenical Community Meal ministry is looking for volunteer team members to replace those who have had to move on because of changes in location, health, and the like. Interested volunteers should contact Madeleine Forssell at 570-595-6491.
