West Virginia Missions Adventure / July 28 – August 7, 2015 / $699 / ages 14 & up

Develop your own inner compass in the spectacular beauty of the West Virginia mountains! As you serve other people in a sustainable way, taking time to go rock climbing and hiking, God can direct your mind and heart in new ways. Our team will work with Next Step Ministries and area residents.

This expedition starts off with a summit hike for goal-setting together and the rewards of awesome vistas. You’ll then be working with local ministries to teach their neighbors how to build inexpensive solar panels, saving them money and using resources more wisely. Trip leaders will address topics to challenge you, such as our view of poverty, leadership, loving one’s neighbor, and our responsibility to get out of our comfort zones to correct poverty.

Appalachia is among the most impoverished regions in the United States. Just 42% of Braxton County residents graduate from high school. Unemployment is high, and over half the households sit below the poverty level. Many homes lack adequate plumbing and kitchen facilities.  This is sure to be an eye-opening and life-changing experience as we practice what Jesus meant when he said, “Love your neighbor ….”
