It’s Good!
Thursday Night Kickoff: David Akers

david-akers-lo-res-1-for-webA six-time Pro-Bowler and holder of numerous NFL records, David Akers has played more games in Philadelphia Eagles uniform than anyone else, and became the franchise’s all-time leading scorer. Leaving the Eagles after 12 seasons, he went on to play two seasons in San Francisco, rewriting the record book in that short time. David is one of those rare people who personified hard work, perseverance and the striving for perfection under the scrutiny of playing in the National Football League. A Christian believer since age 12, David realized he needed to better align personal actions with his profession of faith. He is realizing God’s call to glorify Him in all circumstances, and has since become a licensed minister and speaker, blending his football experience with biblical principles on how to have Ultimate Victory in life.

Friday Series: Shawn Hart

shawn-hart-for-webShawn Hart is the Assistant Director of the Zacharias Institute and a member of the United States speaking team. During his earlier years serving with Africa Inland Mission, Shawn saw the need for Christian apologetics in evangelism and discipleship. His love for other cultures grew, along with a great interest in how to respectfully engage with people from diverse cultural perspectives. Shawn graduated from the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics and joined the Zacharias Institute in 2005. He and his family live in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Worship Leader: Aaron Dixon

Aaron Dixon is the Worship Pastor at Stroudsburg (PA) Wesleyan Church, and has served as Director of Creative Arts there for the past two years. He discovered his love for music growing up in Egg Harbor City, NJ, and began leading worship at his church at age 15. He then went on to study Pastoral Ministry at Kingwood University in New Brunswick, Canada. Aaron is grateful to be part of a multi-racial, multi-generational church that serves the community with the love of Jesus. And — he is “very excited to be at Spruce Lake Men’s Retreat!”
